Welcome to
the official club website of Oakbank of Calderwood Football
Club. We sincerely hope that you will enjoy
browsing around our website which was setup to give further
information on our small elite football club who are based
at Oakbank Football Park, Oakbank Road, East Calder, West
Lothian, Scotland.
Oakbank of Calderwood
Football Club was officially founded on 1st June 2005 by
current Head Coach and Club Secretary Dougie Hunter who wanted
to devote and commit himself to coaching enthusiastic and
passionate young football players in the local community
who are the future of Scottish Football.
Assisting
Dougie with the coaching is Brian Davidson who also shares
the same passion and enthusiasm as Dougie to coaching our promising
kid’s grass roots football here at Oakbank. Together
they make up the teams coaching team at Oakbank who pride themselves
in developing the ten players who make up the current under
eleven’s team. The coaching team give up their
time on a voluntary basis because of their genuine love of
football and to give something back to grass roots football.
Both coaches are SFA qualified and have been disclosure checked
by Disclosure Scotland.
At this present moment
the club is running with only one under elevens team for
players born in 1997 who are members of the West Lothian
Soccer Sevens Development Association who are affiliated
to the Scottish Youth Football Association. Initially the
team played at under nines level during season 2005/06 then
under tens last season 2006/07 however are now playing at
under eleven’s this season
2007/08. Just like the past two season the team are enjoying
another unforgettable year being part of the WLSSDA setup.
We currently have one of the youngest teams
in our league as three of the players are eligible for under
tens football having been born in 1998. These lads are a credit
to the team and themselves that they have been able to hold
their own playing a year up. Two of the players have
played a year above themselves for the past 4 seasons (since
beginning their careers at under eights) which is no mean feat! The
core of the team has now been together for 4 seasons and has
gradually strengthened as the weeks and months have passed
by since Oakbank of Calderwood was first established.
The team has played in the WLSSDA ‘Bruce’ league
since being accepted into the WLSSDA organisation back in 2005.
The ‘Bruce’ is renowned for having
top quality teams from all over West Lothian which are full
of very talented players. There is no doubt that at this present
moment the quality of football in this league is being played
at a very high standard and all teams are very much on par
with one another. This is good for the continuing development
of the players as they face strong competition on a weekly
basis during the league season.
Our current squad of ten
players are all making fantastic progress and are developing
very well as fine young football players under the watchful
eye of the coaching team Dougie and Brian. The squad is full
of very passionate, determined, dedicated young football
players who show a positive attitude and exceptional commitment
to playing with the team. Together
they display a great TEAM spirit win, lose or draw and are
an absolute joy to coach because like the coaching team they
are so committed to their football!
Such is the talent within
the team that we are fortunate to have a few players in our
squad attending additional performance training at a few
SPL professional clubs to which we are extremely proud. It
is the coach’s
goal that we can continue to develop all our players so that
they are all given an equal opportunity to progress into
professional youth level and beyond.
Who know what the future
holds for our stars of the future as it is very difficult
to make the grade as a professional football player however
the future looks bright with the talent coming through. No
matter what the future brings we have high hopes that every
player in the team will make further progress and go on to
have a big future in the game playing at a high level be
it at an amateur or professional football club?
The progress which has
been made in such a short space of time for this team has
been astonishing and makes all the hard work involved with
coaching young football players so worthwhile and rewarding. Suffice
to say I think everyone associated with this club are extremely
proud of what has been achieved so far at Oakbank of Calderwood Football Club and
long may it continue!
Our motto here at Oakbank of Calderwood Football Club is
quite simply “Passion and Pride” in
our pursuit of perfection! We hope you enjoy visiting ‘THE
HOME OF THE BANKIES’ official club website.
