Daily
Record / Sunday Mail - Kits for Kids Promotion 2006
Oakbank of Calderwood Football Club were one of only 500 youth
football teams throughout Scotland fortunate enough to accepted
for the Kits for Kids promotion run by the Daily Record / Sunday
Mail and CIS Insurance last year.
The goal for this promotion
was to save enough tokens which appeared in the daily Record
and Sunday Mail on a daily basis over an 8 week period. The
reward was that the team would receive brand new strips,
tracksuits and rain suits free of charge if we could collect 4,000 tokens. Again
this proved to be another major success for the club as the
players, players parents, grand parents, friends, work colleagues
and the local community got right behind us by collecting the
tokens on our behalf over the 2 month period. We were
absolutely delighted with the support we received from many
sources and eventually collected just over 10,000 tokens
more than double our target figure!
We then found ourselves in the fortunate position that we
were able to help several other clubs achieve their figures
by giving away the additional 6,000 tokens to the teams who
were struggling to achieve their targets to obtain the free
kit.
Overall this was yet another fantastic TEAM effort by everyone
associated with the club. This also proved that even though
we are a very small club with only ten players we can achieve
big things when everyone chips in for the benefit of the kids
who play for the team.
